Tech inspection requirements for July 12-14, 2002 at HPT

You are responsible for putting a safe car on the track. It is your responsibility to check all the items below and sign off on them before your car is teched. The tech inspectors will go over them in general, but you will have checked them in detail before going through tech inspection

  • OPEN CARS- All open cars must have a roll bar, single loop Cobra roll bars are acceptable.
  • HEADLIGHTS- Glass light and lenses must be taped. Plastic lenses excluded.
  • SEAT BELTS- Open cars must have competition type belts and shoulder harnesses. DOT type seat belts are required in other cars.
  • INTERIOR- Seat must be securely mounted: all loose objects must be removed. A fire extinguisher is required and must be secured in the car.
  • BATTERY- Must be securely mounted; terminals tight and in good condition. Positive terminals must be taped or covered.
  • TRUNK- All loose items must be removed- Empty! Glove box must be empty.
  • TIRES- Must be in good condition.
  • BRAKES-tested for pedal travel, fluid level, and brake pads.
  • BRAKE LIGHTS- must be operational.
  • FLUID LEAKS- NONE ALLOWED!
  • WHEELS- checked for lug tightness with torque wrench, remove hubcaps and rings.
  • STEERING- Checked for play; check wheel bearing tightness.
  • GLASS- May not be cracked or broken.
  • EXHAUST SYSTEM- Good condition and secure with mufflers.
  • HELMETS- required by drivers and passengers at all times. Snell SA 90 or better.
  • MIRRORS- At least one rear-view mirror required.
  • VIDEO MOUNTS- must be secure
  • HOT LAP TIMERS- must be secure
  • THROTTLE RETURN SPRING
  • NO OPEN WHEEL CARS

I AM AWARE THAT MY PRESENCE AT THE TRACK WHETHER INVOLVED IN PIT CREW ACTIVITIES, SPECTATING, DRIVING AN AUTOMOBILE OR RIDING IN AN AUTOMOBILE ON A RACE TRACK, OR TEMPORARY CIRCUIT DESIGNED FOR, AND USED AS A ROAD COURSE, WHETHER IN A RACE, TIME TRIAL, DRIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM, FOR PRACTICE, TESTING OR OTHERWISE, IS A HAZAROUS ACTIVITY INVOLVING A HIGH DEGREE OF RISK OF SEROUIS INJURY OR DEATH. I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN SUCH ACTIVITIES WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED AND HEREBY AGREE TO ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS OF INJURY OR DEATH RESULTING FROM THIS ACTIVITY.

I hereby release Mile Hi Cobra Club, NASA (National Auto Sport Association), their officers, members, workers, sponsors of the event, participants, instructors, car owners, any of the officials thereof, and all other persons (hereinafter "RELEASEES"), FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY TO ME OR TO MY PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES, HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, AND ASSIGNS, FOR ANY AND ALL LOSS OR DAMAGE ON ACCOUNT OF ANY INJURY TO PERSON OR PROPERTY OR RESULTING IN MY DEATH ARISING OUT OF OR RELEATED IN ANY WAY FROM MY PRESENCE AT THE ACTIVITY.

This GENERAL RELEASE expressly releases RELEASEES, from injuries and damages which are caused by negligence (whether active or passive, ordinary or gross), or otherwise. By signing this form I am agreeing to be a participant at this event.

I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless RELEASEES from any and all claims, demands, or liability in breach or violation of the terms of this release.

This RELEASE is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted under Colorado/Kansas law. If any portion or provisions of this RELEASE ARE HELD INVALID, IT IS AGREED THAT THE BALANCE OF THE RELEASE SHALL CONTINUE IN FORCE AND EFFECT.

CATEGORIES AND CLASSES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

STREET- Passenger car street tires, unshaved, racing tires prohibited. Must use same tires throughout event. No open exhaust allowed.

  1. Big Block- 400 cubic inches and up
  2. Small block- V-8 up to 400 cubic inches
  3. 6 &4 Cylinder
  4. Power Adder- nitrous, turbos, superchargers

 

PREPARED- DOT tires - determined by tech, open exhaust permitted. Must use same tires throughout event.

 

  1. Big Block- 400 cubic inches and up
  2. Small Block- V-8 up to 400 cubic inches
  3. 6 & 4 Cylinders
  4. Power Adder- nitrous, turbos, superchargers

 

PRO- May use slicks, open exhaust permitted.

Event Awards will be presented to the drivers with the lowest lap time from the timed portion of the open track event and the lowest time in the autocross for each class.

Overall Awards will be presented to the 1stand 2ndplace drivers in each class with the combined lowest times from the autocross and open track events.
